Keith Taylor, the Green Party's south east MEP, told protestors: "We don't need nuclear weapons, we don't want nuclear weapons and they don't work, so we need to scrap Trident."
He was the last speaker to address crowds outside AWE today as CND launched its 'Stop Fooling With Nuclear Weapons'. The protest was calm, there were no arrests reported this afternoon (Monday). Campaigners got back on the buses they arrived on earlier at around 2.30pm.
Vice president of CND Bruce Kent was not at the protest - he is touring the country as part of the campaign launch - but is due in Reading on Friday, April 5.
Mr Taylor added: "I came here with a simple message - nuclear power is dirty, it is dangerous, it is expensive so let's take the billions it would be costing us in weapons and power and build schools and hospitals and create jobs and create energy that does not leave a toxic legacy.
