UPDATED: A limited service is now running between Reading and Paddington, but commuters are still being warned to expect disruption.
An electrical fault on the line between Hayes and West Drayton caused travel chaos this morning, with no trains running until 11am, and a restricted emergency bus service is still operating.
Network Rail has also set up local rail shuttle services between Oxford and Slough.
Services from Reading West away from the area are not affected.
Sonning Bridge has also been closed by flooding after the Rover Thames broke its banks at several points.
The Playhatch road into Sonning from the A4155 Henley Road is shut by flood water, and the Loddon Bridge Park and Ride is also closed.
Eight flood warnings are in force along the Thames.
