The CHOW Reading Friday Food Market will hold its first weekly session in the Market Place this Friday to replace the recently cancelled Artisan Food event.

Reading UK CIC and Reading BID (Business Improvement District) have announced the new venture which will see food from around the world on sale at the end of each week.

Residents can get their teeth around everything from Mexican tacos and Greek wraps to Spanish paella and traditional English pies and mash.

As well as hot food there will be cakes, breads and local cheeses on sale alongside fresh fruit, fish and meats.

Bobby Lonergan, Reading BID manager, said: “We are delighted to announce the return of a weekly food market to Reading town centre.

“Last year’s food market showed that there is a real appetite for street food in Reading. CHOW will be operated by Southern Market Traders, one of the country’s top market operators, who will be creating a buzzy destination for food lovers every Friday.”

In January the previous Friday market closed down after its organising company folded.

Paul Lewis, of market operator Southern Market Traders, said: “We are excited to be establishing a new food market in Reading town centre. CHOW will be all about providing a great food choice for Reading, whether you are looking for something different for lunch on a Friday or for something tasty to take home for the weekend - CHOW will be serving up the best in high-quality street food from around the world, along with fresh local produce.”

Starting this Friday the event will run weekly from 9am to 4pm in Market Place.
