A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a man and woman both sustained injuries in an attack in Whitley at the weekend.

The male victim suffered multiple stab wounds and the female was left with cuts.

Scott Benham appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court today charged with attempted murder, GBH with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The 35-year-old, of no fixed abode was remanded in custody until he will reappear at Reading Crown Court on February 9, where the case has been sent.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "The charges are in connection with an incident in Kingsbridge Road, Reading, on Saturday (9/1) in which a man sustained multiple stab wounds and a woman sustained cuts."
