A DRUG dealer who was found with more than £2,000 worth of cannabis in a rucksack has been jailed for a year.

Kashif Chowdhary admitted to possession with intent to supply after officers found a large quantity of drugs, two sets of digital scales, measuring containers and sealable bags in a bag behind his home.

The seized cannabis was estimated to have a street value of around £2,390.

The 25-year-old, of Kensington Road was arrested the same day, February 15 and later admitted to the charge on June 22.

Last Tuesday Chowdary was sentenced at Reading Crown Court to 12 months' imprisonment for possession with intent to supply a Class B drugs.

Detective constable Jon Nicholls, of Force CID Reading, said: “The supply of illegal drugs will not be tolerated in the Thames Valley and this successful conviction demonstrates that we take this offence seriously.

"Illegal drugs have a devastating impact on local communities.”
