A WOMAN escaped a collision without injury after she left the highway and planted her car nose down in a ditch.

The Honda Civic landed the right way up at the bottom of a steep embankment to the side of the A329(M) at around 9.45pm last night.

Although the driver was able to free herself from the vehicle firefighters had to cut back the overgrowth at the side of the road and help her up to safety.

Ambulance crews checked her over but were happy to release her home clear of injury.

Crew manager David Grayson from Wokingham Road fire station said: "The car went down a bank and into a ditch.

"The lady was able to get out of the car but she was stuck down quite a steep embankment so we had to cut some branches and shrubbery out the way to help her get up.

"The ambulance did an assessment with her and were happy there were no serious injuries."

The collision took place around one mile from the turn off from the A329 at Winnersh, heading towards Wokingham.
