A FAMILY is suing Royal Berkshire Hospital over alleged failures which left a child with brain damage.
Sally Okumu's parents are taking legal action against the hospital over the alleged treatment of their daughter, now four, at the special care baby unit.
Sally has has cerebral palsy, is deaf and has global developmental delay due to the severe and permanent brain damage.
Her parents allege that checks whilst Sally was in the special care baby unit were not sufficient.
Sally was born at 33 weeks by caesarean section on 28 May 2012.
Director of Nursing at the trust, Caroline Ainslie, said: “This is a very sad case and we have expressed our sympathy with the little girl and her family. The Trust has investigated the case and is in communication with the solicitors. It is not appropriate for us to comment further given that there are Court proceedings and the case is with the solicitors.”
