A GANG of men who stole thousands of pounds worth of goods from a business park were at the centre of a police investigation today.

Shortly after 6.30pm two men entered the Newbury Business Park through a side gate. They were followed shortly after by a group of three men in a red Ford Transit van.

The men in the van then loaded the vehicle with around 100m of armoured cable, 500m of copper piping and three large vaults filled with workmens' tools.

They fled the scene on A4, London Road, shortly after 8pm.

Police investigating the break-in have urged anyone who is offered second hand goods of the same description to contact the force immediately.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "At approximately 6.30pm on Monday 16 January, two men entered the Newbury Business Park, A4, London Road, through a side gate.

"At approximately 7.40pm, three additional men arrived at the site in a red Ford Transit van with roof racks on top and joined the two men.

"The three men who arrived in the van loaded the vehicle with 100m armoured cable, 500m copper piping and three large vaults containing a significant amount of workmen's tools."
