A PANICKED swan was rescued by police officers yesterday afternoon.
PC Payne was called to wrangle the swan yesterday afternoon.
A tweet, shared by a Thames Valley Police account at 7pm showed him holding the bird under his yellow high-visibility jacket.
The swan will be given a chance to rest before being released back onto the water.
"Semi professional swan catcher, Pc Payne, to the rescue," the tweet reads.
"12 hours rest and hopefully it can be returned to the river Thames near Caversham."
The tweet has been retweeted by 20 people with others making references to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's Hot Fuzz.
In the comedy hit two officers try to catch an elusive escaped swan.
A Thames Valley Police spokesman said they could not to look into details of incidents shared on their twitter without a valid policing reason.
