THERE has been no decline in burglaries in the Whitley South police area despite officers’ best efforts, the latest figures show.

There were eight burglaries in June and nine in both July and August.

Neighbourhood specialist officer PC Stuart Keys said: “We regularly patrol the current burglary hot spots to try to deter, locate and arrest any suspects, but as you may be able to appreciate, being in the right place at the right time can often be difficult.”

But anti-social behaviour fell from 65 reported incidents in July to 26 in August.

PC Keys said: “Although we are well aware of the issues in and around the local stores, we have dispersed large numbers of youths and sadly, adults, from these areas, which have seen the decrease in reported incidents.”

The officer added: “I attended the Whitley Green Residents’ meeting on September 15 and was met with many positive comments from those who attended and I wish to pass my thanks.

“The main issue which arose from this meeting was the constant irresponsible parking of some residents in and around this area. This matter will be addressed by the team and I hope you will all see the good results which will come from this.”

The neighbourhood team hold a street briefing for anyone with crime concerns at 5pm on Sunday in Lulworth Road and at 5pm on Sunday, October 24, at Ashby Court.
