TEENAGERS were seen 'wielding weapons and attacking people' in a rampage across town, it was revealed today.
Thames Valley Police were called to Rectory Road in Newbury following reports a large gang of youngsters were carrying blunt weapons, carrying out assaults and damaging property in the area.
Officers turned up shortly before 9pm and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of affray.
Now police want anyone with information about the incident on August 29 to come forward.
A police spokesman said :”The incident took place on Tuesday August 29 in Rectory Road between about 7.20pm and 8.40pm.
“Several calls were made to Thames Valley Police that large groups of youths were carrying blunt weapons, had carried out assaults and were causing criminal damage in the area. No one was injured as a result of any assault.”
The boy who was arrested hails from Newbury and has been released under police investigation.
Police constable Chris Eaton, based at Newbury police station, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who has any information which they think could help with our investigation.
"If you saw this incident, or have any details relating to it, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101."
