DRIVERS escaped unharmed after a four-vehicle pile-up halted lunchtime traffic today.
Firefighters, paramedics and police officers raced to the scene, at the junction of Shinfield Road and Elm Road, shortly before 12.30pm.
When they arrived it immediately became clear three cars and a van had been involved in the crash, and ambulance crews assessed everyone involved.
However, there were no injuries as a result of the collision, and everyone was released from the scene.
A spokesman for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to an RTC at the junction of Shinfield Road and Elm Road in Reading.
“Everyone was fine, we were just there to help make the scene safe. Police and ambulance were also in attendance.
“We arrived at 12.30 and helped make the scene safe, we were there for around an hour.”
