The Faith Museum in Bishop Auckland presents an evening of conversation with the prominent British artist behind the venue's first contemporary installation.

Mat Collishaw will be in conversation with Elizabeth Oldfield, host of The Sacred podcast, in the Throne Room of Auckland Castle on Tuesday, May 7, from 7pm to 9pm.

An exclusive after-hours event will explore the inspirations behind Eidolon, the Faith Museum’s first contemporary installation created by Mat, said to be leaving a powerful impact on all visitors.

The exhibition is on show to visitors and has been described as a meditation on faith, suffering and rebirth. The Northern Echo: Eidolon, Mat Collishaw, The Faith Museum, Bishop Auckland (1)

Edward Perry, CEO of The Auckland Project said: “Utilising the Throne Room of Auckland Castle for this event creates a wonderful connection between the historic art which has been hanging on the walls of this palace for hundreds of years, and the new artists creating new work for our museum and gallery spaces - possibly with the same questions on faith and our connection to the world that the old master painters had centuries ago.”

Tickets are available for Mat Collishaw: Exploring the Sacred, with Elizabeth Oldfield now for £15, which includes access to the Faith Museum. Friends of The Auckland Project receive 20 per cent off admission price. More information and tickets to the event can be found by clicking here.
