A Reading drug dealer has been jailed for four years after pleading guilty to multiple drug offences and criminal damage.

Namar Tyrer, 22, of Lyndhurst Road, Reading appeared at Reading Crown Court on Friday, April 19.

Police originally stopped Tyrer on August 3 on 2023 when he was spotted acting suspiciously with known drug users on Cressingham Road. A large quantity of cash and Class A drugs was seized from his person and his home address.

This included £1,350 in cash, three mobile phones, three sim cards and tw bags of cannabis.

After being released on bail, Tyrer was spotted again on December 20 at 6pm with two children who were suspected of selling drugs on Shinfield Road.

Despite resisting arrest and verbally assaulting officers with racial slurs, he was arrested, and charged the following day.

Investigating officer PC Eric Harcup, of the Reading Problem Solving Team, said: “We are committed to protecting the most vulnerable in our communities and will actively and persistently target those who seek to take advantage of them, such as drug-dealers like Namar Tyrer.

“We need the support of the public to tackle illegal drugs supply though so please get in touch via 101 or our website with any information that might help us.

“We will never tolerate our officers or staff being racially abused so it’s right that Tyrer has been brought to justice for this offence too.”

During the arrest, the offender also damaged a police car by kicking one of the rear passengers doors as he was exiting the vehicle.
