Changes to existing buildings and homes have been applied for across Reading this week.

The biggest plans submitted involve changes to a building near Cemetery Junction which contains eight flats.

Elsewhere, a private school has applied to build three homes for teachers on land it owns, and a family home in Katesgrove could be converted into a home of multiple occupation (HMO).

Changes for building containing eight flats (231557)

The owner of 320 Kings Road near Cemetery Junction has applied to confirm its use as housing and create a single new ramped access.

The building currently contains seven double-bedrooms on the ground and first floors for use as HMO, with a separate two double-bedroom flat on the second floor.

The plan has been submitted to confirm works that have already been undertaken to create the two-bed flat on the second floor, and also to replace the existing stair and ramp access with a single ramp that will be accessible for all occupants.

It is understood the building used to contain offices.

Homes for teachers at private school (231245)

Leighton Park School has applied to build three homes for teachers on the grounds of the school in Shinfield Road.

The plan involves building a terrace of three identical two-bedroom homes for teachers on land next to Fryers Orchard.

Each home would come with the usual living facilities and have one car parking space.

Leighton Park is a co-educational private school.

HMO conversion in Katesgrove (231382)

The owner of a four-bedroom house in Katesgrove has applied to convert it into a four-person HMO.

The application relates to a mid-terrace house in Rowley Road, which has a rear dormer in the loft which comes with an ensuite toilet.

At ground level, new occupants would make use of a shower toilet, kitchen and living room.

The plan involves adding a cycle store to the front of the house.

Time extension for Caversham hand car wash (231306)

Janus Stoci, the owner of the Hill’s Meadow Hand Car Wash has applied for the business to continue operating for a further period of five years.

The hand car wash adjacent to the  Hill’s Meadow car park in Caversham has been running since 2015.

It requires planning permission from the council to operate, which was granted in 2015 and 2018, with Mr Stoci wanting it to run until 2028 at least.

The car wash comes with a public toilet, refreshment server and waiting area.
