A PROLIFIC author who has seen many of his popular books turned into successful shows for the small screen is coming to Reading.

Anthony Horowitz OBE, one of the most successful writers in the UK, will be at Waterstones on June 13 to sign copies of his latest novel.

His teen spy Alex Rider books have sold 19 million copies worldwide and he is also responsible for creating and writing some of the UK’s most loved TV series, including Midsomer Murders and Foyle’s War.

He has written more than 40 books, including his 2016 standalone novel Magpie Murders, a Sunday Times bestseller.

His new James Bond novel Forever And A Day is about the legendary agent's birth into becoming a spy as a prequel to Casino Royale.

Horowitz is the author of two Sherlock Holmes novels – The House of Silk and Moriarty – and one previous James Bond novel, Trigger Mortis.

One lucky Chronicle reader will receive a signed copy of the book and the opportunity to meet the author, subject to the event running to schedule.

Cheryl Dibden, events co-ordinator at Waterstones, said: "We are very excited to welcome Anthony Horowitz, one of the most successful writers in the UK, to Reading.

"We look forward to finding out more about the origins of the world's most famous secret agent in his explosive prequel to Casino Royale."
