A MAN was attacked from behind and robbed in a shocking broad daylight attack.

The victim, a man in his forties, was walking along Tilehurst Road, opposite Pegs Green Close.

A gang of thugs then pounced from behind, knocking him to the floor before kicking him.

The group then took a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene, shortly before 6.30pm on Saturday, May 19.

A police spokesman said: "The offenders were three men.

"One is described as wearing a vest, white Adidas trainers with blue on the base, he was short and stocky, and had ginger hair.

"It's thought one of the men spoke with an Irish accent."

The victim was not seriously injured and did not need to go to hospital.

Detective constable Brian Simmonds, added: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen this assault to come forward.
