POLICE have launched a manhunt after a woman was raped in the early hours while she was jogging.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was in the area of the A33, from Berkeley Avenue up to junction 11 of the M4 motorway by Green Park, when she was approached by a man.

She was attacked some time between 3.50am and 5.15am on Tuesday by an unknown man.

There is no description of the offender available at this time, but police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Patrols have been stepped up in an effort to reassure the public and anyone with information linking to this incident is urged to come forward.

Detective inspector Dave Turton, from Reading Force CID, said: “Detectives are working to establish the circumstances of this serious incident in which a woman was raped.

"The victim has been offered support by specially trained officers.

“We would like to speak to anyone with any information or anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously around the area at that time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and patrols are taking place in the area.

"Anyone with any concerns or any information can approach and speak to an officer in the area or call 101 to speak to the neighbourhood team.”
