TEAMS of runners are being encouraged to take part in next year's Reading Half Marathon as part an exclusive offer for students.

Event organisers have created an incentive offer to celebrate World Student Day (October 15), which allows you to register two additional places when eight people sign up for the race.

The race, which will take place on March 18, is expected to attract thousands of entries, with nearly 15,000 signing up for the 2017 half marathon.

Judith Manson, race director, said: “We want to support university sports clubs and with that in mind, we have created this exclusive offer for all student sports clubs and societies.

"This is a great way to get the whole club involved, promote your university and society on the day and also support our local charities.

“If you would like to be involved in the event but can’t run, we are always keen to hear from local clubs who can volunteer on the day.

"We are renowned for our electric atmosphere, the huge local support lining the 13.1-mile route and the unique roaring atmosphere of the hero finish in the Madejski Stadium.”

The special offer means students can save £70 on a group entry.

Email the organisers directly at: events@sweatshop.co.uk by the December 1 to take up the offer and secure your team's entry.
