A WORRIED man called paramedics as he discovered his partner was about to have a baby.

He called South Central Ambulance Service when he found she was going to have a baby near the Sapphire Plaza by the Kennet at 5.17pm on Friday, April 28.

By the time an ambulance arrived just seven minutes later they found the happy couple with a baby boy.

A spokesman for the ambulance trust said: "The call was an unusual one.

"The caller said his partner was giving birth imminently.

"By the time the ambulance arrived at 5.24pm the baby had been born, a healthy and crying little boy."

The medics gave both mother and son a quick check over before taking them the half mile to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
