PATIENTS receiving treatment for mental health problems in Berkshire are more likely to receive follow up support, according to the latest figures.

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has a 99 per cent success rate when it comes to seeing patients within seven days of being discharged.

Only 16 of the Trust's 1,138 patients were not seen within the one-week window, which is the most successful response rate for the entire south east.

Julian Emms, the Trust's chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be recognised as the most responsive provider of specialist mental health services in the south east; it is a testament to our staff that we have achieved this result.

“We are committed to helping people recover and integrating them back into the community and this was reflected in our Care Quality Commission report, which recognised Berkshire Healthcare as ‘Good’ – only the second such provider of our type to receive this rating.”

The south east performed strongly in terms of response to mental health patients, with an average of 95 per cent of cases receiving follow up attention in 2015/16.

Solent NHS Trust followed up with 236 out of 244 patients in 2015-16, or 97 per cent.
