A DOMESTIC abuser who slashed the tyres of a 20 year-old woman and sent her aggressive messages was locked up on Friday.

Pierce Darlow, of Romany Lane, Tilehurst, committed a string of offences towards a young woman on October 3 and 4, 2016.

As well as slashing the tyres of her car, the 27 year-old assaulted his victim and sent her a string of threatening and abusive messages.

After the police caught up with him a day later, Pierce was charged with one count of battery, one count of criminal damage, one count of sending malicious communications and one count of breaching a suspended sentence.

At Reading Crown Court on Friday, January 6 he was sentenced to 19 months behind bars.

Detective Constable Simon Easton of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit said: “I am delighted with this sentence, which reflects the repeated unacceptable, degrading, intimidating and abusive treatment that the victim was subjected to.

“The role of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Units across Thames Valley Police is to support victims of domestic violence, to encourage them to come forward, and to prosecute Domestic Abuse offenders wherever we can.

“This result shows that serial Domestic Abuse offenders in particular will be prosecuted, and that victims do not have to suffer in silence.”
