HOMEOWNERS were without power on Oxford Road and Elm Park Road throughout the night due to a fault with an underground cable.

Technicians were called to two different power cuts in the area on Tuesday evening and the early hours of Wednesday morning, before power was safely restored just after 5 am.

A spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said: "Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks were alerted to two power cuts in the Oxford Road and Elm Park Road area during yesterday evening and the early hours of this morning due to a fault on an underground cable.

"A second power cut occurred at 1.16 am this morning with engineers safely restoring all customers by 5.15 am.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers for their patience while we worked to get their power back on."

The power was initially out of action from 7.22 pm and was restored just after midnight, but a second outage resulted in further work being carried out in the early hours of Wednesday.
