GEORGE and Amal Clooney have helped the drive to renovate a village hall north of Reading.

The Hollywood couple, who have a house in Sonning, recently donated funds to the ongoing effort to spruce up the community hall in Dunsden.

As well as recieving donations and fundraising through fireworks nights, the facility's guardians are looking to win a £25,000 community award from the One Family Foundation to build a new, accessible kitchen.

When installed, it will be used by the term-time Kindergarten group for hands on cookery classes and to cater for weddings and christenings.

Hall manager Gilly Lea said: “We are currently in the running for a £25,000 award for a community award from the One Family Foundation and it's winner takes all - the project with the most votes takes the £25,000 award.

“There's nine other groups asking for the award and ours is the only charity and the only one local to Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

“We'd love to get more support and votes to help the project move forward.”
