STAFF from the stricken City Motors group, that went into administration at the end of September, have been taken on by a new firm.

When the multi-franchise dealership appointed KPMG Restructuring to oversee winding down the business and laying of 267 employees.

Of these nine have been taken on by Anchor Vans as they look to expand.

Simon Joyce, managing director at the van hire company said: "Due to our proposed expansion of Anchor Vans and Anchor Cars to our new site on the A4 in Midgham, and in light of the situation at City Motors, we have moved forward with our recruitment plans and are pleased to welcome five vehicle technicians, two sales staff, one administrator and a parts manager to our growing team."

Anchor Vans and Anchor cars have been based in West Berkshire for more than 30 years.
