WORK to fix a busy Tilehurst Road after a sewer collapsed on Thursday continues this week with the repairs to be completed by Friday.
School Road has been shut between the junction with St Michael's Road and Westwood Road after the sewer six metres below the street collapsed.
Thames Water spent the weekend performing emergency work to get the road up and running again.
Thames Water's Stuart White said: “Repairs on the collapsed sewer have gone well over the weekend and are almost complete, so we are now working on the reinstatement.
“This involves removing large safety sheets, refilling the six metre deep hole and then resurfacing the road so it is safe for traffic.
“If this goes to plan we expect everything to be back to normal by Friday morning.”
Diversions for buses and traffic are still in place whilst the repairs are being finished.
