A MAN was killed on the A33 this morning in a two-car collision which led to major traffic delays on the roads around Reading.
Police were called to Rose Kiln Lane at 5.14am and were joined by an off-duty paramedic on their way to work.
The paramedic was advised to carry on their way by police who declared the man dead on arrival.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody following the collision, which took place at the Matalan junction.
The accident caused major disruption to those travelling in and out of the town with the A33 closed in both directions for several hours until it was finally reopened at 11.51am.
One driver who got caught in the traffic commuting to Reading from Ascot said: "It was not a good journey.
"It took more than double the normal amount of time it usually does and I spent about half an hour moving 20 metres to some traffic lights.
"I got to work and was in a really foul mood."
Reading Buses tweeted of the severity of the delays and warned users the delays would last several hours as police attempted to divert traffic away from the incident.
