A YOUNG cyclist was knocked off his bike in Woodley yesterday afternoon (Monday) and the driver failed to stop.

The 12-year-old was not seriously injured, but police are now appealing for witnesses following the collision.

The youngster was with a friend, also 12, who were both cycling along Loddon Bridge Road, approaching the 'Just Tiles' roundabout at around 2.30pm on Monday afternoon.

According the police, one of the boys was involved in a collision with a car, believed to be a black Ford Focus, and was knocked from his bicycle. The car did not stop at the scene.

The driver of the car is white, aged approximately 30-years-old, with dark blond hair and had a beard.

The boy was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with injuries to his right arm and hand.

Investigating officer PC Sally Barden, from the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who saw this collision take place or who saw a black Ford Focus travelling in the vicinity at the time of the collision."

Anyone with any information about the collision should call PC Sally Barden, based at Three Mile Cross, via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.
