PANGBOURNE College have received a bumper crop of A Levels results with students securing top places at a string of leading universities.

At A Level 20 per cent of grades were A* to A, 48 per cent were A* to B, 71 per cent were A* to C and 97 per cent were A* to E.

In amongst the outstanding achievers were five students who will be heading to the University of Bristol, the history department, which gained 93 per cent A* to B, and Olly Rogers.

Olly, the college's senior scholar, picked up an A* and Two As which will take him to Bristol to read History.

His results were matched by Stanley Walker who is off to the same university to study Physics.

Olly said: “I really wanted an A* and I’m so glad I got it. I wouldn’t have been happy with less. I can’t wait to go to university now.”

Classmates Nicole Snyman and Sam Wang both achieved an A*, an A and a B to secure places reading Psychology and Mathematics respectively at Bristol.

Mr Thomas Garnier, Headmaster and former Physics student at the University of Bristol, said: “I’ve been hugely impressed with how this Upper Sixth approached their final year of A Levels.

“Education, of course, is not just about academic results, but I’m very confident now that these students will be leaving here with the skills and, most importantly, the values to excel at university and ultimately in the world of work.”
