DENEFIELD student Danielle Turner is looking forward to studying clinical psychology at the Royal Holloway University in Surrey.

But the teenager admitted on the day she collected two A* and an A grades at the Tilehurst-based school, that it would not have been possible without the help of her teachers.

"The teachers and support staff are great and they really encouraged me with my higher education choices," said Danielle, who got the A* grades is psychology and photography and the A grade in English Language and Literature.

"I really enoyed my time at Denefield post-16. Without their support, I wouldn't have considered applying to university. Now, I'm so excited to be going."

Danielle is among a number of Denefield A Level students who are today celebrating their results and looking forward to university life.

Philip Coulam-Jones achieved A* grades in maths and further maths, and B grades in chemistry and physics, and is bound for University College London to read physics.

School colleagues, Bethany Ivens and Liam Beazley are both bound for the south coast to study at Southampton University.

Bethany achieved A* grades in psychology and the extended project qualification. She also achieved A grades in media and fine art to study psychology in Southampton.

Liam collected A grades in fine art and media, and a B grade in English Literature to read film at university.

Among BTEC students, Chloe Webb achieved three Distinction* grades across art & design, and health & social care to help her follow a career path in industry.

And Kedrick Sichitalwe collected two Distinction* grades and two Distinction grades for business and ICT before he heads for Coventry University to read Ethical Hacking & Network Security.

Headteacher, Lucy Dawe, said that the school's students had developed the ambition and resilience to achieve their very best. She thanked the Year 13 teachers and sixth form guidance team.

She said: "Our Year 13 students now leave us for the next exciting chapter in their lives and will be able to enter higher education or employment secure in the knowledge that they are building on very firm foundations.

"We wish them all the best for the future and look forward to hearing of their continued success."
