SHIPLAKE College has received its best ever A Level results, breaking records across the board.

Not only has the percentage of results at the top end risen at the Henley-based college, with 41% A* and A grades compared to 36% in 2015, but the college has also achieved a 100% pass rate for the first time.

Most significantly was the 13% rise of A*-C grades, up from 74% last year.

Headmaster, Gregg Davies, said: “Naturally I am extremely pleased with this year’s record-breaking results.

"They are a reflection of a distinctive partnership between the pupils and staff, which includes crucial guidance regarding appropriate A Level and BTEC subject choices and admirable hard work and dedication from all involved."

A number of students achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades and are bound for university this autumn. They included: Ed Warren (law, Warwick University), Scarlett Martin (psychology, Exeter), Oscar Oglina (medicine, Bristol), Oli Riley (theology and religion, Durham), Sam Collett Fuzesi (psychology, Southampton), James Fenton (business economics, Exeter) and Freddie Brady (physics and astrophysics, Bath).

Shiplake's Year 13 leavers are going on to a variety of universities, with Exeter, Oxford Brookes and Newcastle among popular destinations, studying degrees ranging from criminology to architecture, as well as many business, sports and science-related courses.

This year marks the first set of results achieved by boys who joined Shiplake in Year 7 in 2009. These boys all gained a high set of results, with a large number of A*, A, and Distinction* grades in their A Level and BTEC subjects.
