QUEEN ANNE'S School headteacher has praised the "hard work, determination and resilience" of students after an excellent set of A Level results.

The Caversham-based school was this morning toasting another year of excellent academic success for their Upper Sixth which delivered 64% of all grades at either A*, A or B.

Headteacher Julia Harrington said: “Our girls have again done extremely well and I am enormously proud of each and every one of them.

"These results reflect their considerable hard work, determination and resilience, as well as their talent, and the girls – and their fantastic teachers – are to be warmly congratulated!”

Gabby Woodward from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, has demonstrated that academic success does not preclude excellence in other areas of Queen Anne’s girls' lives.

Gabby, who already studies at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, excels in music composition and has been commissioned to compose a piece which premiered at a special 100th year anniversary concert commemorating The Battle of Jutland and The Battle of the Somme in London.

Her composition also featured at the unveiling of a sculpture at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in memory of the victims of 9/11.

She will continue her love of music by going on to study music at Worcester College, Oxford University, with a choral scholarship having received 2 A* grades in English Literature and music and an A grade in mathematics.

Rosie Dart, from Wargrave, has claimed her place at Durham University with a Vice Chancellor's Scholarship to study English having achieved a 3 A* grades in drama, English Literature and psychology.

Rosie has been offered a prestigious place at the National Youth Theatre. Rosie managed to combine her exceptional drama talents with her charitable personality by raising over £2,000 for Rosie’s Rainbow Trust alongside staging the school’s first ever student directed musical production of ‘Annie’.

Holly Bartlett celebrated this morning with her three A grades in biology, chemistry and geography.

Holly is a key member of our VOCES8 singing group. She will be studying dentistry at Cardiff University.

Annabel Fountain, Queen Anne's under-19B lacrosse captain, who led the team to Division Two to become National Champions at the National Schools' Lacrosse Championships, achieved an A* grade in biology and 2 A grades in French and geography. Annabel will go on to study geography at Exeter University.

Amelia de Normann, one of Queen Anne’s Head Girls, did exceptionally well with a hat-trick of dazzling A* grades in religious studies, history and English Literature.

Amelia, who won four prizes at Speech Day and a gold medal at the Woodley Arts Festival, will be focusing her studies on English Literature at Durham University in September.

Charlotte Way from Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire, will also be joining Amelia and Rosie at Durham University after she achieved an A* in Spanish and 2 A grades in English Literature and History. Charlotte will be studying Liberal Arts.

Prefect, Matilda Brock aged 18 from Sonning Common, is celebrating with an A* grade in Biology with a further two A grades in geography and chemistry. She will be going on to take up her place to study Medicine at Nottingham University.
