THE family of a young mother killed in a collision with a HGV have praised her for saving her "baby girl".

Lauren Heath was pushing Millie in a pram when the crash took place but the girl managed to survive with minor head injuries.

Tributes have poured in for Lauren, 20, and her mother has honoured the life saving actions following the collision in Basingstoke Road yesterday afternoon.

A statement released on behalf of the grieving family said: "We would just like to say a big thank you to everyone.

"Our daughter was such an amazing girl and the best mummy to Millie.

"She was her world and we are proud that at the last time in her life she saved her baby girl."

An appeal has since been launched in honour of the woman and her daughter, who will turn one on Monday, which has already raised more than £4,000 since this morning.

Lauren was pronounced dead at the scene while Millie was rushed to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with minor injuries.

Following the tragic accident tributes have poured in the on the Go Fund Me page, kickstarted by Natasha Turner, it reads: "Millie is just days away from her first birthday, which Lauren had been so excited about and had already started planning things for her special day weeks ago.

"Any money raised will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance."

Thames Valley Police has launched a full collision investigation following the incident which took place just after midday opposite the Whitley Morrisons.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene and has been spoken to by officers.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Following the collision friends and family have taken to social media to pay tribute to Lauren.

On Facebook Lisa Marie Bowden, wrote: "You didn't deserve to leave us this young.

"Your a hero for saving your beautiful Millie and I and I'm sure others will look out for her growing up and make sure she knows what a great mother and person you was. RIP Angel."

Kayleigh Kilbane, wrote: "No words can describe the pain and emotion. I've lost one of my closest friends today of 4 years, feels so unreal."

Sally O'Brien, wrote: "RIP Lauren Heath we didn't talk much at college but when we did we both had babies.

"We were going meet up soon. Millie will be looked after well and she remember you as a amazing mum. You never be forgotten."
