Muddy Reading Festival goers are being hosed down before they are allowed into shops.

The heavy rain has made parts of the Richfield Avenue site into sloppy muddy puddles and the army of wellie clad music lovers are not being allowed in The Oracle or Tesco without cleaning up first.

Fluorescent jacketed security guards advised festival goers to clean their boots off in crates of water provided at the entrances to The Oracle.

They then had to present their cleaner boots to the guards who would then allow them into the building.

Staff at Tesco in Portman Road, have staff using pressurised water cannister to clean boots off before people are allowed into the supermarket.

Rain is expected to fall periodically over the weekend interspersed with spells of sunshine.

The crowds that have descended onto the town now only have to wait until 11am tomorrow for the first bands to take to the variety of stages.
