'I can’t rule out coming back' Reading star on exit, Luton Town and Eamonn Dolan

Luton Town defender Tom Holmes had admitted he 'can't rule out not coming back' to Reading in the future. The 24-year-old made his 133rd and potentially final appearance for his boyhood club in Saturday's 3-2 win over Blackpool. Coming off the bench, it was the centre-back's first involvement for three months after suffering with a back injury. Spending 16 years rising through the ranks with the Royals, Holmes joined Premier League Luton in January before returning on loan until the end of the season to support the team's fight to stay in League One.

Sitcom royalty in attendance for Reading final day victory over Blackpool

British sitcom royalty was spotted at Reading's final day 3-2 victory over Blackpool on Saturday. Sue Holderness, best known for her 18-year stint in the much-loved Only Fools and Horses, has been spotted at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on occasion down the years. A guest of former owner and chairman, Sir John Madejski, the Green Green Grass star was present in the Directors' Box alongside the likes of Madejski, Mark Bowen and former CEO Nigel Howe. Announcing her attendance on social media, the actress said: "Off to Reading's John Madejski stadium this morning to see the final match of the season. Very excited!"

Reading average crowd falls for third tier return- but remains among best in division

Reading's average crowd for their return to the third tier fell from last year's relegation campaign, however, it remains among the highest in League One. The Royals' attendances at the Select Car Leasing Stadium have steadily fallen since relegation from the Premier League a decade ago, with average crowds of more than 17,000 in 2017 now just a memory. Despite experiencing a first return to the third tier for more than 20 years, the average attendance has fallen by just 334 from last year's 13,449 to 13,115. This was boosted by Saturday's turn-out of more than 18,000, the largest of the entire campaign.

Despite falling behind early to Karamoko Dembele's strike; Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs and Femi Azeez ensured the atmosphere was one of celebration after a long and tumultuous season back in the third tier.

After over 2,500 votes from supporters, Lewis Wing was voted 2023/24 Player of the Season. Arriving from near-neighbours Wycombe Wanderers in the summer, the North-East native took a month to shake off an niggling injury but has proved a steal on  free transfer. Vastly experienced across the EFL, the 28-year-old has enjoyed his best individual season to date with 10 goals and 11 assists.

Reading vice captain Tom Holmes has been deemed fit enough for the bench in what could be his final appearance for his boyhood club. The 24-year-old spent 15 years with the club, making over 130 appearances, but joined Premier League Luton Town in January. Injured since February, there were concerns over his fitness as Blackpool visit on the final day. The centre-back makes the bench, along with fellow youth products Michael Craig and Mamadi Camara.
