Former Wales international Danny Gabbidon believes Mark Hughes will be Reading manager "by the end of next week" according to his Twiiter page.
The 40-year-old, who played for West Ham, Cardiff, QPR and Crystal Palace, believes that sporting director Mark Bowen, a good friend of Hughes, is repaying the former Man City boss a favour.
Hughes is reportedly in talks over becoming boss at Reading following the news that Jose Gomes has been sacked, according to various news outlets.
Bowen has been assistant at many of Hughes' former clubs and Gabbidon thinks that now Hughes is out of a job, Bowen is keen to hire the former Man Utd legend as a debt of gratitude:
Mark Bowen recommending Mark Hughes to the board? or did Hughes call in one of the many favours owed back to him by Bowen for taking the man everywhere he went! Whichever one he be in there by end of next week. #Reading
