READING FC Women's Farah Williams has scooped the player of the month award for October following a string of sensational performances.

Williams, who recently scored a sensational goal directly from kick-off, notched two goals in her first four league games, helping guide Royals into the league's top three at the end of October.

And before her world class finish against Arsenal, Williams had already scored a contender for goal of the season when she rifled home a 25-yard volley in a 3-0 win over Liverpool.

Fara Williams scored directly from kick-off against Arsenal.

The 33-year-old fended off competition from Chelsea's Magdalena Eriksson and Manchester City's Jane Ross.

Williams said: “I feel I’ve performed well, as the whole team have.

"We’ve hit a really good vein of form and things are really starting to click as a squad and that’s credit to Kelly, Phil and all the girls for working so hard in training, but yes for me I’m really happy to have helped the team pick up points in the last two months.”

Williams capped off the accolade by helping steer Royals to a 4-0 win over London Bees at Madejski Stadium last night [Wednesday].
