MARTIN Drew and Martyn Drewitt moved from 16th position to win the men’s Winter League competition at West Berks following the sixth and final round.
Round Six was an event in the notorious multiplier format where the scores of both partners are multiplied together and, as often is the case, proved to play havoc with the league table.
Kevin Hopwood and John Harris won Round Six with 79 points, while Drew and Drewitt were four shots behind in second place. Kevin Good and Charles Dixon were third with 70.
Drew and Drewitt’s remarkable climb up the table saw them win the title with 283 points, claiming victory on on count-back from Jimmy Green and Nigel Huszarik who were runners-up for the second year running.
Grant Forbes and Gary Robinson were third with 274 points, while Hopwood and Harris moved from 32nd place to within two points of third.
