RICHFIELD Rovers are off the mark at last, beating fellow strugglers Polonia Reading 1-0 to register their first Senior Division win of the season, writes Dave Wright.

Ghana Stars suffered their sixth straight defeat in a 4-1 home loss to Kidmore End/The Mod, while in the game between two of the top three teams, Reading Irish squeezed home 2-1 at Emmer Green in the second round of the Berks & Bucks Sunday Intermediate Cup.

Purley are also through to the next round following a 5-2 defeat of Tilehurst YM, and will be joined by Woodley Wanderers, 4-2 winners over the Tilehurst Club.

In the Premier Division, Le Galaxy moved fifth with a 6-0 win at Richfield Rovers Reserves, while Southcote Colts defeated Woodley United 4-2, with skipper Danny Blatchford getting both goals for the losing side.

116 Exiles crashed out of the Intermediate Cup, going down 6-0 to Cottage Inn.

In Division One, second-placed Imaan squeezed home by the solitary goal at Henley Town, Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians won 2-1 at AFC Bradfield, Woolhampton CFC beat WS Hobnob by the odd goal in five and Woodley Wanderers Reserves triumphed 6-2 over Caversham AFC.

In the Industrial Cup, The Bull (Theale) won 2-1 away to SC United.

Joining them in the last eight are Coley Park, who crushed Division Two rivals Southbank 5-0. But Coley lost top spot in the table to Sportsman, who inflicted a 9-1 demolition job on 116 Exiles Reserves.

Loxwood boss Jason Harris was forced to make his first start of the season - taking over between the posts in a 2-2 draw with Berkshire Rovers.

Harris had to pull on the gloves as makeshift goalkeeper after regular stopper Tom McNelly pulled out with a back injury during the warm up.

And the veteran managed to keep a clean sheet before the break as his side took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Luke Parsons and Michael Flatman.

However, Harris was beaten twice after the break with opponents Berkshire Rovers hitting back to draw 2-2.

Arborfield moved up to third by defeating Whitley Athletic 2-1, Maiden Place won 4-3 against Tilehurst Club Reserves.

Southcote Colts eased past Barton Rovers 4-1 to go top of Division Three.

Englefield dropped their first points in a 1-1 draw at Thames Athletic, AFC Lowfield edged home 2-1 against Loddon Valley Rangers, FC Showcase defeated Mortimer Reserves 2-1 and AFC Pangbourne drew 2-2 with Tilehurst Titans.

The clash between the top two sides in Division Four produced a thriller, with South Reading and Tilehurst Club A drawing 2-2.

Third-placed Theale blasted Burghfield Reserves 7-3, Fox & Hounds outsmarted New England 5-0, Shinfield Park Rangers edged past Shinfield Rangers 2-1 in their derby, and the match between Sanctuary Strikers and The Bugle ended goalless.
