Reading FC could be forced into a difficult decision over a potential fixture postponement after international call-ups for key players, manager Leam Richardson has revealed.

The Royals have already seen midfielder Andy Rinomhota called up by Zimbabwe for the upcoming international break, while defender Jeriel Dorsett has also been selected by his national side Montserrat.

Richardson says the club is now assessing the situation, with further call-ups potentially on the horizon for several members of his squad.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Cambridge United, the Reading boss confirmed discussions were taking place over whether upcoming matches, including the League One clash against Wycombe Wanderers, could be affected.

"It's a conversation we're having this afternoon because Jeriel Dorsett has been called up and Andy Rinomhota has been called up," Richardson said.

"You've got Jamie Reid and Charlie Savage on standby, possibly Kyerewaa as well.

"It's not just one game to cancel either. If you're doing one, it's Wycombe and Brentford. You can't just cancel one."

This week The Reading Chronicle revealed that Kyreece Lisbie and his twin brother Kyrell who plays for Millwall have been approached by Jamaica to potentially represent the national team.

Reading are currently weighing up their options but Richardson stressed his preference would be to keep the fixture schedule intact if possible.

"Ideally we wouldn't want to cancel any games, so we'll be mindful of how many and who get called up," he said.

"We're having conversations this afternoon with certain people."

The prospect of postponements comes at a time when Reading are building momentum under Richardson.

The Royals head to Cambridge this weekend unbeaten in five matches and fresh from back-to-back league victories, scoring eight goals in their last two outings.

However, the loss of several first-team players to international duty could leave the manager short of options during a busy period that also includes Reading's EFL Trophy campaign.

A decision on whether Reading will seek any postponements is expected once the full picture regarding international selections becomes clear over the coming days.
