Former Reading boss Ruben Selles was denied a perfect start to life as Hull City manager as Watford scored a dramatic 88th-minute equaliser to hold the Tigers to a 1-1 draw.
Selles officially departed Berkshire on Friday and was in the stands to watch their 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, while Noel Hunt was appointed his replacement and drew 1-1 with League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
Dropping to the bottom of the Championship, Selles and his coaching staff- which consisted of James Oliver-Pearce and Tobias Loveland- took charge for the first time on Wednesday against play-off chasing Watford.
Chris Bedia opened the scoring in the final 10 minutes as Selles looked to have picked up a first win within a week of arriving, however Rocco Vata levelled the scores with two minutes remaining to ensure the points were shared.
Despite the late goal to end any hopes of a debut win, Selles was content with the result.
Selles told BBC Radio Humberside: "We wanted to see a team that is aggressive and front-footed and I think in a lot of moments we saw that.
"We started the second half well, we controlled the game and scored the goal but unfortunately at the end we conceded.
"I thought we had done enough to get the three points when we scored. In my position I can't get too caught up in the emotions.
"I want to see a team playing together and playing to our ideas and principles. I think the players did really well for the time that we have been together."
Still bottom of the table, by a single point, Hull travel to Coventry City on Saturday for a 12.30pm kick-off.
