Wales legend Robbie Savage labelled Amadou Mbengue's goalline clearance in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Crawley Town 'absolutely sensational.'
Savage- a Premier League regular with the likes of Leicester City, Birmingham City and Derby County- is a regular viewer of Royals matches since his son Charlie joined last summer.
21-year-old Savage, already a full international, scored the third goal in Saturday's win and is currently joint top scorer at the club.
Despite looking like comfortable winners against the Red Devils on the weekend, the visitors pushed Reading for large spells and saw two goal-bound efforts cleared off the line.
Mbengue's last-ditch effort, coming shortly after the defender opened the scoring, was singled out by Savage for praise on BBC's flagship radio programme, 606.
"Reading beat Crawley and there were two goal-line clearances- one from Tyler Bindon but anyone who can watch the highlights please watch Amadou Mbengue’s clearance off the line. It was absolutely sensational. You cannot possibly clear it. It’s an unbelievable clearance."
Savage, manager of non-league Macclesfield Town, has spoken regularly of Reading's struggles since arriving.
Famously, Savage's last professional appearance came at the SCL Stadium in 2011 and the midfielder spoke of the respect he had for the club as he was applauded off despite captaining opponents, Derby.
