Reading boss Ruben Selles spoke highly of 16-year-old Andre Garcia after the defender made his first league start for the club.
Replacing Kelvin Abrefa at full-back for Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Burton Albion, the teenager had previously started in cup competitions but only made short cameos in four League One matches.
Coming in for plaudits from supporters watching, the youngster also received rave reviews from his gaffer.
"Andre has been training really hard since March," Selles commented. "I see Andre as a full first-team player, and he is developing and growing. We didn’t have any doubts about putting him in today as we didn’t have any doubts about putting him on the pitch before. I think he did a good job."
Another young talent who impressed against the Brewers was Chem Campbell, who got off the mark for the club with a first-half brace.
Still only 21 and among Wolverhampton Wanderers' youngest-ever players, the winger has joined on loan until January.
"Chem is a great player, but it is easier to come into an environment where everyone knows what to do and how to do it- the relations were already created," Selles explained. "We knew that with his quality he could be a good addition to the club. It is good that he is cracking on today with two goals and the way that he played. We are happy for him, and everyone involved in the victory."
Reading travel to Rotherham United on Saturday looking to earn a first away win of the season.
