A whole host of Reading stars were out to support Noel Hunt's Under-21s on Tuesday night as the Academy opened their Premier League International Cup account with a 2-1 victory over giants Ajax.
17-year-old Tyler Sackey opened the scoring in the first half before the visitors equalised before the break. Adrian Akande's cross was headed into his own net by defender Aaron Bouwman for the victory.
Hundreds of supporters were in attendance at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, including manager Ruben Selles and his coaching staff.
Selles, Tobias Loveland and James Oliver-Pearce kept fans happy with selfies and conversations from their box, while a raft of their first-team squad did the same.
Amadou Mbengue, Andy Yiadom, Harvey Knibbs, Michael Craig and Kelvin Abrefa were just a few who sat in a box and cheered on the youngsters, many of whom are already regularly involved in first-team squads.
Former Reading midfielder Caylan Vickers was also present. Breaking through from the Academy to the first team a year ago, he moved to Brighton and Hove Albion in January on a long-term contract.
Under-18s coach Mikele Leigertwood was also sat in the stands, best known for his role in the club's Championship title victory in 2012 and scoring the all-important goal against Nottingham Forest to confirm promotion.
