Reading Women began their new era under the management of Pedro Bruno and the Reading Community Trust with a 3-0 defeat to Sholing on Sunday.
Demoted out of the second tier and into the fifth tier due to lack of finances, the Community Trust side are now based out of Slough and are in the Southern Region Women's Football League.
With a whole host of new signings and a new management team, it is little surprise to see the team require time to gel ahead of a new dawn for the women's side.
Phoebe Hudson, Kathryn Littleboy and Katie Shorter did the damage in the first half, but the Royals battled hard in the second period and gave supporters enough to be optimistic about going forward.
With only one substitute, Reading battled at times while down to 10 men.
Line-up: Mia Donovan (GK), Lily Brooke, Tia Lee, Laura Palfrey, Rosie Robinson, Santearna Spencer, Jordanne Hoesli-Atkins, Caitlin Levy, Mia Bradley, Zuzanna Gajzler, Keira Morl
Playing home matches at Arbour Park, Oxford City make the trip to Berkshire next week Sunday (2pm ko.)
