Former Newcastle United and Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has been appointed the new manager of Blackpool.
The Manchester United playing legend has over 25 years of managerial experience across predominantly the Championship and Premier League, winning four promotions.
His stock had fallen in recent years after spells with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion, but the 63-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Bloomfield Road.
The Tangerines missed out on a place in the play-offs last year after losing 3-1 at Reading on the final day.
Yet to win in their first four League One matches, Neil Critchley was sacked last month and Richard Keogh was placed in caretaker charge.
The EFL veteran will take charge of his first game on September 14, while the Royals will come up against the former central defender in December.
"I'm delighted to be back in football and to take charge of this fantastic football club," Bruce told the club website.
"I'd like to thank Simon, Julian and David for giving me this great opportunity. I look forward to meeting all of the staff and players in the coming days as we prepare for what we all hope will be an exciting season at Bloomfield Road."
