Reading's PL2 clash with Nottingham Forest was abandoned midway through after an injury sustained by Forest star Ben Perry.

The Royals, who have already booked their place in the play-offs of the Under-21s top-flight, were leading 2-0 in Loughborough after John Clarke and Matt Carson had netted in the first half.

However, shortly before the break Perry and Carson went for a challenge and the home player came off worse.

Needing to be stretchered off and taken to hospital in an ambulance, the match had to be paused until a new ambulance was able to be on hold for the game in case of emergencies.

After a 30-minute wait, the call was made to abandon the fixture.

Reading, challenging for a place in European competition next season, host Manchester City at the SCL Stadium on Monday in the final regular fixture of the season.
