Reading took a big step towards securing League One football for next season with a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

Sam Smith and Lewis Wing netted in the first half for a dominant display while the defensive rear-guard was on top for the second half.

Take a look at our ratings below.

Joel Pereira, 7: Relatively untested but was forced into one big save in the second half to keep his clean sheet. Prepared to leave his line and punch balls clear, which helped his back four.

Andy Yiadom, 6: Solid display from the captain, who loved nothing more than flying forward on the attack. Worryingly had to come off in the second half with an injury.

Amadou Mbengue, 7: Another calm and composed display, covering well with his pace and bringing the ball out from the back when offered the opportunity.

Tyler Bindon, 8: Match-winner on Saturday against Lincoln, it is his ability to save the ball with his head rather than score with his head that will take the plaudits from Bristol.

Clinton Mola, 6: Similar to Yiadom, Mola offered a good level of attack and grew into the game from a defensive perspective.

Lewis Wing, 7: Terrific free-kick for his goal and could have grabbed another in the closing stages. Another stellar performance from the Player of the Season in waiting.

Harvey Knibbs, 6: Had few sights on goal but his energy and pressing was effective as ever. Loved to drive forward and set attacks in motion.

Ben Elliott, 7: Another step toward seeing the real potential of the youngster, Elliott was combative and popped up all over the place. The more he’s appearing, the more he’s growing into the side.

Femi Azeez, 6: Still looks slightly off the pace from earlier in the season but still a real thorn in the side of opponents.

Sam Smith, 7: Held the ball up expertly and was jogging on the right spot to convert Bindon’s flick-on for the opening goal. Capped his display with a Player of the Month nomination.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, 6: A real handful for opponents, Ehibhatiomhan always had a trick or two up his sleeve and was comfortable beating players on the outside. Still young so needs to iron out his inconsistencies.

Substitutions

Michael Craig, 6: Game was won before the midfielder arrived, leaving him to come on and help see it out.

Kelvin Abrefa, 6: Did what he needed to do, winning his tackles and allowing the midfielders to search for a third goal.

Paul Mukairu, 6: Had a few small sights of goal but took to long to get a shot off. Kept the Pirates on their toes in the closing stages.
