Reading defender Tom Holmes made his first appearance for almost three months for Noel Hunt's Under-23s side in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, even scoring.

The 24-year-old Academy graduate joined Luton Town in January but returned to his boyhood club on loan until the end of the season.

Suffering a back injury against Leyton Orient in January, the centre-back started for the youth side and played 45 minutes.

Ruben Selles had confirmed on Friday that he was available for first-team selection after training all of last week, but opted against bringing him back into the matchday squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw against Lincoln City.

In PL2, Spurs ran into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes, but Holmes netted before the half-hour mark and fellow defender John Clarke scored a 90th-minute equaliser to remain in the top 10.

Holmes will return to Kenilworth Road over the summer after signing a long-term contract in the winter. The Hatters are currently in the relegation zone in the Premier League, but only on goal difference.

The Royals have four League One matches remaining, starting with Bristol Rovers this evening.

Burton Albion; Barnsley and Blackpool are all to come before Saturday, April 27.
