Reading fans are being encouraged to take scarves to Saturday's match, against Wycombe Wanderers, and raise them ahead of kick-off to create a visual blue-and-white spectacle.

A visual feat known as 'Sea of Scarves', Royals fans have used the initiative in the past for big matches to get players up for the match.

Supporters have been encouraged to pack out the Select Car Leasing Stadium for the final five matches of the season in an attempt to have raise money for the club after it was revealed that the club face a shortfall for payments due at the end of the month.

Club 1871, a popular part of the stadium for atmosphere, has sold out while other parts of the ground are selling better than usual in what should be a bumper crowd for the Berks-Bucks Derby.

Supporters created a visual 'tifo' ahead of the last home game of last season against Wigan Athletic, making for a striking image.

Plugging the appeal on social media, Club 1871 said: "Do it. Raise your scarves before the players come out on Saturday!! Keep getting the tickets sold. Tell ya mates. Family. Anyone local. Let’s pack out the ground for the rest of the season. The players deserve it, the club needs it."
